Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Leaption collects through this website, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We have tried to keep it short and plain.
Who we are
Leaption is based in Dublin, Ireland. For this website Leaption is the data controller, which means we decide how your information is used and are responsible for it.
You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@leaption.com.
What we collect and why
When you book a demo
If you fill in the demo form we collect your name, your shop’s name, your email address and, if you choose to give them, your phone number and a message.
We use these details only to reply to you, arrange and give the demo, and follow up about Leaption afterwards. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share your details for anyone else’s marketing.
When you subscribe to news from Leaption
If you give us your email address in the news sign-up form, we use it only to send you occasional news about Leaption. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of those emails, or by emailing us, and we will stop straight away.
When you email us
If you write to us we keep your email and our replies so that we can deal with your enquiry.
When you visit this website
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other sites.
Like every website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider that briefly processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type in order to send you the page and keep the service secure. The page also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when the page loads.
Our purposes and legal bases
| What we do | Information used | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to a demo request and give the demo | Name, shop name, email, phone, message | Steps you have asked us to take towards a possible contract; our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries |
| Send you news about Leaption | Email address | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Answer emails you send us | Your email address and what you write | Our legitimate interest in dealing with enquiries |
| Deliver this website and keep it secure | IP address, browser type | Our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website |
How long we keep it
We keep demo requests and related emails for up to 12 months after our last contact with you, then delete them. We keep a news subscription until you unsubscribe. If you become a Leaption customer, your details move into your customer account and are kept under our agreement with you.
You can ask us to delete your details sooner at any time.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run this website and handle enquiries. They process information only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website.
- Railway, which hosts the Leaption application where demo requests are stored.
- Resend, which delivers the emails our system sends.
- Google, which serves the typefaces used on this page.
- Anthropic, whose AI service powers Leaption Assistant, used by shops to set up a new supplier’s invoice layout (see “Supplier invoices and Leaption Assistant” below).
Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area or may process information there. Where that happens we rely on safeguards recognised under data protection law, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
We may also disclose information where the law requires us to.
If you are a customer of a shop that uses Leaption
Shops use Leaption to manage their customers’ orders and to send order updates and, where you have agreed, news and offers. If you received a message or placed an order through a shop that uses Leaption, that shop is the data controller for your information and Leaption processes it on the shop’s behalf.
To see, correct or delete that information, or to stop receiving messages, please contact the shop directly. Every marketing message also includes a way to unsubscribe. If you contact us instead, we will pass your request to the shop.
Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it if it is wrong;
- ask us to delete it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it;
- ask for it in a format you can take elsewhere.
To use any of these rights, email hello@leaption.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland at dataprotection.ie. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Automated decisions
We do not make decisions about you by automated means, and we do not profile visitors to this website.
Leaption’s product reads supplier invoices that shops upload automatically, so that delivered items can be matched to waiting orders. Those are the shop’s business documents, staff at the shop check the result, and it is not used to make decisions about individual customers.
Supplier invoices and Leaption Assistant
Shops upload supplier invoices (PDF) so that deliveries can be matched to waiting orders. Leaption reads the invoice, the shop checks the result, and the file is then deleted. A shop may put a customer’s name and phone number in the order reference it gives its supplier; when that comes back on the invoice, Leaption uses it to create or match that customer’s order for the shop. The shop is the data controller for that information, as described above.
When a shop sets up a supplier whose invoice layout Leaption has not seen before, it can use Leaption Assistant. Leaption Assistant sends only the invoice’s text to our AI provider, Anthropic. Before anything is sent, customer names, phone numbers and email addresses, and all prices and totals, are removed. The result is a set of reading rules for that supplier’s layout, which the shop reviews and approves. Leaption Assistant is used only at set-up; later invoices from that supplier are read by Leaption itself, without any AI service. The invoice file is not kept.
Reading rules describe where a supplier prints things on its invoices. They contain nothing about a shop or its customers, and we may reuse them so that other shops using the same supplier can be set up faster.
Keeping your information safe
Information sent through this website is encrypted in transit. Access to enquiries is limited to the people at Leaption who need it to reply to you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how we use details you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
