For gift shops

A gift shop from October to January.

The autumn range arrives in October a box at a time, and some of it is already promised to someone. By November the Christmas table is out and people are asking you to hold things. December is special orders, gift wrap, parcels to post and a shelf of bags labelled with first names. In January the shop is quiet and the regulars have forgotten you. Today the promises live in a notebook and in whoever took the order.

1October

The autumn range lands, and some of it is spoken for.

Today: Count it in against the invoice, then try to remember who asked for the fig candle back in August.

  1. Scan the boxScan each item with your barcode scanner, or type the codes. Or upload the supplier’s PDF invoice instead and skip the scanning.
  2. Every item finds its customerEach one goes to whoever has waited longest. The rest goes on the shelf.
  3. Check, then confirmLook over the matches and correct anything that isn’t right.
  4. Everyone is told at onceOne button, and every customer with something in the box gets a text or email.

2November

Your Christmas guide goes live.

Today: Your best picks are on the table. People photograph them and say they’ll come back.

  1. Choose the giftsAdd each one with a line on why you chose it. Your words, your colours, your logo.
  2. Set the datesOpen it in November, close it when you stop taking orders for Christmas.
  3. One button on your websiteCustomers browse and order on their phone at any hour, with no account to create.
  4. Collect and pay, or pay nowThey pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay into your own Stripe account, or reserve and pay when they collect. Add gift wrap and other extras you choose.
  5. Every order lands in LeaptionBeside the ones you took at the counter, ready for a ready message or a packing slip.

Covered, the gift-guide feature, is on the Scale plan.

3A Saturday in December

Someone wants the earrings in gold, and you don’t have them.

Today: A slip of paper by the till, a promise to ring, and a customer who rings you first.

  1. Take the order in ten secondsName, number and the item, at the counter or on your phone.

  2. ReminderGoes out by itself after the number of days you choose.
  3. Final reminderIn your own words: “We’ll hold your gift until the 23rd.”
  4. A short list of people to phoneStill not collected? They’re on one list with a number, not in a bag you keep walking past.
  5. Posting instead? For an order paid online, print the packing slip, add the An Post or DPD tracking number, and the “on its way” email goes by itself. Anywhere in Ireland.

5January

Bring the regulars back.

Today: They were in every week in December. Now nothing.

  1. Choose who gets itPick a group. Anyone who hasn’t opted in is left out for you.
  2. Write it, or design itPlain text by text or email, or a designed email with pictures of what’s new and a button to your ordering page.
  3. Pick a daySend it now, or schedule it for the morning the sale starts.
  4. Review and sendSee exactly who gets it before it goes. Unsubscribing is one tap, and recorded for you.

Text campaigns are unlimited on both plans. Designed emails are four a month on Core, unlimited on Scale.

What you’d be on

Scale, because the Christmas guide is where a gift shop takes orders it would never have taken at the counter.

Covered puts your picks on your website with collect-and-pay, gift wrap and posting, and the designed emails that bring regulars back are unlimited. If you only want the deliveries sorted, special orders kept and parcels chased, Core does all of that for €15 a month, and many gift shops could start there.
